Make a PPPOE server to Trick a BT/Plusnet router

Hi All
Im not sure if this is aloud but im asking, I have a RBSXTR&R11e-LTE6 all working fine, but i got thinking this past week. could i setup a pppoe server on my miktotik router then make a user like bthomehub@btbroadband.com and no password, then send it down a vlan to the wan port on my old bt router? it need a ppope account to work,

can anyone help. this could be good for the environment not to waste old routers . e.g you cant get FTTP or a good VDSL speeds to your house like me, i moved to LTE, but i had to but all new wireless kits for my buildings. this could save money and ewaste.

hope you can help

I’ve tried this and it worked, tested on BT HH 5a and 5b, the only downside besides the extra NAT, is that upload on those things is limited to 30Mbps which made them useless to be used as anything.
So it ain’t worth the trouble.
But this: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Interface/PPPoE#PPPoE_Server_Setup_.28Access_Concentrator.29
and this: https://blog.ligos.net/2019-11-04/PPPoE-Server-on-Mikrotik.html
should give you a starting point.

Hi All

I Had to play with NAT setting, all working fine, and just for information the new bt smart hub 2 unit, has a higher than 30 Mbps upload, i have only 45 Mbps upload but it handled that fine.
