Malwarebytes flags Winbox as malware

Today, Malwarebytes (v4.1.0) running on Windows 10 Pro (v1909) has flagged Winbox (v3.24) as being malware, and quarantined the winbox64.exe file. I suspect that this is a false positive because I have been using that version of Winbox for a few days but only today has it been flagged.

For information.

Ok “malware” is maybe a bit of an overstatement, but marking as “unusableware” would be appropriate…

Winbox is fine, that was fluke false-positive

Saw that as well this morning having my cup of coffee and I get the pop up on my laptop telling me 3.24 is malware. Never had that with any other version. I suspect the same, just a false positive.

I have reverted to Winbox v3.21 and everything now OK for Malwarebytes. Besides, the interface is more stable (zoom issues on laptop screen) than v3.24 :frowning:

Thats par for the course with MB. It flagged a bill payment feature on my bank website, after logging in, as malware LOL.

Oh I get it, you are mad that us idiots who cannot manage CLI have a tool that lets us bypass all that silly CLI nonsense :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
(well except for a few commands that are quite useful)

No issues here with Malwarebytes v4.1.0 and Winbox64 v3.24

There were infected versions of Winbox, WnRAR, TrueCrypt, IDM getting deployed last year.
