I am new to the MikroTik and Wireless Technology.
Recently, I have encountered a problem.
My company has two “MikroTik mANTBox 19s” devices.
A Point-To-Point Wireless link is established between these two mANTBoxes.
When the Antenna Gain (dBi) is increased, naturally, the EIRP (dBm) should decrease.
However, when the Antenna Gain is set to 180 dBi or above that, the dBm suddenly increases dramatically instead of decreasing.
180 dBi sound like a lot.
Doesn’t that model have a 19 dBi antenna?
And since it is a fixed internal one it’s gain should not be changed.
Anyway I am not understanding what the issue is in practice, the couple devices are used in a PTP link, does the link work or does it not?
I presume this link has been setup in the past by someone else in the company, and now you are tasked to maintain and/or fix it?
Our company is an importer and reseller of MikroTik equipments. “Communications Regulatory Authority” tests and reviews this radio equipments before issuing a sales license to our company.
Unfortunately, the inspector conducting the test significantly increased the “Antenna Gain” during the test.
As a result, it was observed that when the “Antenna Gain” is set equal and above “180 dBi”, the “dBm” value increases instead of decreasing, and it exceeds the permissible limit in our country.
For this reason, we are not allowed to sell these radios equipments unless we find a solution to limit the Antenna Gain for end-users.
The scenario I presented in the topic is not a real project, it was simply done for testing purposes.
So, you are in the wrong place, this is a user forum, you should open a ticket on Mikrotik support or - since your company is an importer and reseller - you probably have or can procure direct contacts at Mikrotik.
The mantbox 19s is however a discontinued product.
