Manufacturer defect on two CCR1016-12S-1S+

This week I have ran into what I think is a manufacturer defect on two Mikrotik routers we have. I first want to state everything I have tried:

  • Multiple transceiver S-RJ01
  • Two different CCR1016-12S-1S+
  • Using my existing config and testing with a factory reset config
  • Multiple firmware versions, 6.38.x?, 6.40.4, 6.41rc47. I only state 6.38.x because that is the firmware version I started with but can’t remember exactly what it is.
  • Not a duplex issue. The Level3 Omniswitch i’m connecting to is set static 100Mbps full
  • I’ve tried with being connected to a desktop NIC and Level3’s device. Doesn’t seem to be what i’m connected to that is the problem.

The Problem:
SFP12 does not work unless the cable is connected and you reboot. When you reboot with the cable connected it will let traffic pass and function correctly. After the Mikrotik is up, if I unplugged the cable from SFP12 and plug it back in, then it will NEVER work again unless I reboot the Mikrotik again. If I leave the cable unplugged, reboot, and plug the cable in after it is up, then it NEVER works. The ONLY way to get it to work is leave it connected and reboot.

What is Weird:
It is only SFP12. At first I thought maybe it was a problem with the board SFP9 through SFP12 but all other ports work. So SFP1 through SFP11 work fine and I can unplug a cable and plug it back in without any problems.

Conclusion
My only conclusion is there is some sort of factory defect. I have two of these devices we purchased at the same time. Anything else I could of missed?
