mAP 2n - Slow, need set up help

Hi I have a MikroTik mAP 2n. I want to use it as a simple access point to connect a windows based lighting desk (for theatres/live music) to a mobile phone over wifi.
There is a purpose built app for remote control of the lighting desk from a phone.

So far I can connect the 2 devices but the app is slow and clunky which is not normal. I am told this will be because of a slow connection. I have changed the Ethernet cable.

someone told me that the mAP 2n is capable of being a simple access point but it needs to be set up correctly and said firewall settings can cause issues.

I am using the mAP 2n on ‘Home AP mode’ with a WIFI password set up and the firewall is off.

is there anything else I need to do to set it up properly?
