mAP2 doesn't respond to reset button

Hi all,

I just got two mAP2 to extend my wifi coverage. Installed one without any real hitch, some fiddling with the configuration but it works fine now. The other isn’t detected by winbox using neighbours. It was earlier on but I did some resets and I don’t know if it’s stuck in some mode.

When I power it up the pwr and usr leds are on, all other off and it stays that way. I tried to power up holding the reset button but no other led starts flashing. I tried power up and then holding down the reset button but it’s the same. No matter what I do, the pwr and usr are on and no other led. It simply doesn’t seem to respond to the reset button.

Does any one have any ideas what this can be? Has it been bricked?

Any input appreciated,
Regards,
mojoman

I assume you mean mAP ? Never heard of map2 before.

Best guess it’s indeed stuck in between modes.
If you know how to netinstall, that might be your only way out.
Before applying power, press reset and keep it pressed until it shows in netinstall window.

They are not expensive but it’s always a pity if it got bricked this way.

Yes, it’s the mAP 2nd. Thanks for the netinstall hint. Tried it both from windows gui and from linux cli but no go. It simply doesn’t show up and won’t respond to reset so I guess it’s bricked. I’ll just return it and ask for a replacement.

Appreciate the input.

Some more things to try

Power supply. If only one LED is lit and nothing else happens, maybe there is not enough power.
Also make sure when you try Netinstall, that your PC is directly connected to the second port of the mAP (not the first). And disable other interfaces (like wifi) in your PC, and any firewalls

Thanks. Tried it, hadn’t disabled the wifi earlier but still no go. I think it’s just bricked and will return it to the vendor.
