Hello Folks!
Some time ago we did get Apple computers (mac book pro) as workstations in our Company.
They are equipped with Parallels and VMWare fusion plus Windows 7 installations and RedHat workstation.
It offered different challenges, here is how we overcome them.
- Serial port need to manage routers, servers, switches etc.
Solution 1 (preferred): Airconsole 2
It works with both OS X, Ipad, Iphone, Android, Linux and Windows.
No need for any serial ports and long serial cables, the device uses WiFi, Ethernet or Bluetooth. We use Bluetooth and WiFi.
Then use screen or buy some console emulator to OS X.
For I-Pad and I-Phone we uses get console app.
It took about 3-4 Days to get the device to Sweden, and their support is exellent to!
For example attaching to MT device serial port from OS X command line:
os x console>$ screen /dev/cu.Airconsole-1 115200
Soution 2: using Windows 7 and Parallels plus regular usb - > serial device.
- The Dude and WinBox and NetInstall
Windows 7 + Parallels + bridging the windows network interface.
Simply install the dude in windows 7 running as guest in parallels or vmware fusion.
The same goes for netinstall
It is also possible to netinstall from OS X using serial port and tftpboot server.
