Max throughput IPsec RB750

  1. I’m wondering what the max throughput I can expect using the lowest form of encryption between two RB750?
  2. Will the number of connections, in this case SIP RTP calls, between the routers cause loss of throughput?

  1. I have tested the RB750 and i got 7 Mb/s transfer rate through a ipsec tunnel with aes256 encryption.
  2. I don’t yet know how it behaves with SIP/RTP but i will soon as i’m waiting to place one in a production environment with SIP.

Throughput will be shared by all traffic that goes through the tunnel so if you have a download through the tunnel which eats up all the bandwidth your SIP call will probably fail. This is why SIP/RTP traffic should be prioritized so that it always has its needed bandwidth reserved.
