1. System does not remember init string after few reboot, it is losing it.
2. Constant dialling out is related to modem or RB itself, the system needs to be shutdown and powered down after change of simcard. Hot swap makes modem confused.
I too am using the MC8705, but on Telecom XT here in NZ.
But I do not have to put in any init commands to get it working, just using channel 3.
BUT: I am having one big problem. After a random amount of time, ie 1 week or 4 weeks, the 411 board looses connectivity with the modem and it requires a manual hard power down and then power up. This is difficult as the router is located at a remote site that doesn’t see many people. The log says something along the lines of error connecting to usb modem.
I have set the router to do a soft reboot at 3am every night, and this had limited the problem to make it less frequent but it still occurs.
As of 3 days ago, my modem is offline, and I can’t get someone there until the end of this month. Signal strength is normally around -82dBi? using a 5dBi external antenna, and get great speeds. I am also using the hotspot function, which I might stop because it seems to act weird when trying to connect a client and there is no 3G connectivity. It would be great if a landing page came up with a button which says ‘press to try and reconnect as the 3G is down’.
I am using 5.5, but this has been happening since in the early 5’s version. Can anyone help?
Hi, there is no solution with the current hardware for any USB or pci based device. The problem is power still stays on the device even when rebooted. The only solution is to pull the power.
Apparently the new routerboard hardware will allow for USB Pci power reset commands but until then buy a plugin power plug timer and set it to reset once a day.
Apparently this happens with most device from what I have read.
