I am writing from Slovakia, so I apologize if the translation is not entirely accurate. I would like to ask you for some advice.
I have a 4TB SATA SSD and a USB adapter. The SSD contains Full HD movies.
Would the following devices be able to handle this SSD (via USB or M.2) in such a way that I can stream the movies over my home network using Samba, without negatively affecting the device’s routing performance and WiFi?
I am referring to the hAP be³ Media and the upcoming hEX Pro PoE.

There is only one CPU inside, so if SMB + USB needs attention then on of cores (maybe more) has to be moved from routing to file serving that effectively means that resources available for networking are lower.
On the other hand when you stream movi over network it consumes the throughput, so streaming always cuts off a liitle of network capacity.
Thank you for the reply. I still want to ask what would be more sensible to use for this purpose — I mean BE3 Media vs Hex Pro PoE when it becomes available. Should I stick to the idea that the more performance the better and rather wait for the Hex Pro PoE?
What version of PCIe M.2 will the Hex Pro PoE have — SATA? NVMe 3x4? How many terabytes of SSD will it accept?
I’m also interested in what puts less load on the CPU — working with a USB SSD versus working with an SSD installed in the M.2 slot.
I would be more worried about stability, both on the drive side (here, internal m.2 or sata would be much more stable than anything over usb) and even more importantly on the smb side. Mikrotik's smb implementation is not always compatible with everything else.
The latter you can easily test on any device with a usb port and a random pen drive.
Otherwise, regarding the cpu, you won't have any problem with either of the devices. Streaming videos (I assume for watching them) is not particularly taxing.
The be3, even though it has a very media focused marketing, has a pretty weak cpu. The hex poe, as announced, has a much stronger cpu, so it will obviously do much better with anything that requires cpu power.
personal opinion:
ROS = Router Operating System
as name suggest, it is intended for network operations
Samba/NAS/SSD/Media ... these terms are far far away from (core) networking
one could force/push/insist on making home entertainment system from MT device, but it will be ... at least, funny? ridiculous?
leave MT/ROS for networking and grab a small/mini/micro PC for well known NAS OS which could handle Media requirement
