Mesh and 802.11n and routeros version

Two quick questions that I can’t seem to find the answers for in the forums or the wiki…

Does the mesh functionality in routeros work with 802.11n links?
What level of routeros is required to get the mesh functionality?

Hi Ross,

802.11n Mesh performance is not fantastic due to limitations with 802.11n and WDS, but it does work.

You can do this with any Level4 or higher licensed RouterBoard.

Can you quantify “not fantastic”?
With 2x2 radios, what sort of throughput is possible on the first link of the mesh?

Hi Ross,

This depends on a huge number of factors, but on the networks we have deployed at the first hop we get ~25mbit full duplex, next hop is generally half that.
