Mesh Load Balance

Hello,

A new customer has asked us to give full coverage at his campsite (1000x500m aprox).

I’ve thought setting each node about three meter high using small omni antennas to reach de area at head level, in order to be able to connect using regular notebooks (no CPE needed).

Each node set at about 125-150m of at least 2 other nodes.

Each node distributes to customer using 802.11b/g and connects to backbone at 802.11a.

Due to my initial plan I thought about setting up a mesh network at 5Ghz, bridged with 2ghz for distribution.

My real question is:
Will the Mesh protocol load balance routes?

I mean: To travel from A to Portal, I have two hypotetical routes:

R1: A - B - C - Portal
R2: A - C - E - Portal

If route1 has a lot of traffic (on B-C segment), will the protocol chose Route 2 instead?

Mesh protocol is Layer2 so it doesn’t care about routes.
However if you play with path-cost values in mesh port settings, then you can achieve layer2 load balancing.
