I am very new on this subject and was only trying to install an antenna for signal to reach from office to house..I was told that this (411ah and 15dbi omni) would do the job plus give my campers a hotspot. Unfortunately, i had asked the company to do a basic configuration and splash page and they agreed. When i rec’d the routerboard, I had to call them to ask what to do…they helped with opening winbox and then gave me a pay techline to call. Therefore, tried to setup myself..to no avail..I went into the settings and tried following the manual and changed setting but I am now not able to see the routerbox in winbox…I have read through other forums and do not have a serial cable to connect with. I do not even really know how to connect the ethernet from computer to routerboard…I mean really only one ethernet port…Please help me…I’d like to be able to get this at least back to the original configuration..have tried original ip address and also the original mac address..neither work…Please help!!
You should be able to connect an ethernet cable from the router directly to your computer. But if you plan on working with RB products, I would recommend getting a null modem serial cable. Some say you can mac-telnet in to them, but I have not tried that if locked out by the firewall. I used to lock myself out with the firewall while learning, and the serial cable was the quickest fix for me.
