Meta Router Newbie Problems

I decided to test the meta router feature in an RB450. Now the router is unusable. What am I doing wrong? Sequence of events:

  1. Starting hardware: RB450 with Router OS version 3.10
  2. Downloaded and installed version 3.24
  3. Rebooted (installing ROS V 3.24)
  4. Opened winbox (v2.2.14)
  5. Clicked “Meta Router”
  6. Clicked “+” to create a meta router
  7. Accepted default settings
  8. Router rebooted on its own
  9. After reboot, could not access it via winbox, telnet or even serial
  10. Tried to reset by powering on with reset switched depressed for 30-60 seconds
  11. Still dead

BTW, it reboots randomly every few minutes now.

How to I get back to square one? What is the best practice to setup a meta router?

first, reset switch does not reset thing you are trying to reset. There is special reset hole on the board (see manual for that) you have to short that out to reset configuration, metarouter will be reset by that too.

then check how much RAM you have available on the router, if you have 32M, then be very careful with what features you are using - you should be at bare minimum, because you will have small amounts of free RAM to run a lot of features.
