Hello all.
We use a lot of Mikrotik products, newer had any bigger problems. Today I configured 2 new RBMetalG-52SHPacn as AP. After configuration an firmware update one device totally bricked, no possibility to access it in any reset way. There lights up only one highest strength WiFi LED. If I try to use Etherboot - lights up 2 LED’s in opposite position, no possibility to access it with netinstall or WinBox.
Second identical device also partially bricked after configuration, update. Was seen with WinBox (IP 0.0.0.0) but there was no possibility to connect trough MAC. In this case Reset helped, there appeared possibility to connect to it and configure again. I have and need to configure another 2 new items, will it be there the same problems? What to do with totally bricked item? Is there any terminal connection pins inside?
OK, another 2 items was configured and updated without any problems. First bricked item was sent to seller, I hope to get it working back.
what are you using those for? i’m currious as to what usecase these can have nowadays.
I use them as simplest WiFi AP. I use WISP AP Quick set.
BTW I received device from service - all OK. Only after this I found misspelling Router identity in one of first 3 items, renamed it and it look bricked now… Physically it is located far away so I can not even reboot it. Really sad things with these mikrotik
Could you describe what version you upgraded device from to?
I can not say what version was there. Upgraded to 6.49.10. With this version yesterday one crashed/bricked after Identity change. Still not online. Devices are RBMetalG-52SHPacn.
Update: reconnected power to this not accessible AP - no difference, did not appeared in winbox. It is located in high place, no easy way to reset configuration
