hello,
i have a almost brand new metal 5shpn ap that half year ago i took out of the box and mounted on a location to make a ptp bridge between 2 hills. i didn’t know how good or bad the signal would be on remote location so i went all out - i hooked a itelite 23dbi panel antenna on it.
on the other end is a lhg. distance is 6km. i aimed it at eye and got -55dBm on receive end which is great, i had stable 70mbit out of that link.
after 2-3 months the signal started to drop. it went to -65dBm and stayed like that for a few weeks and then went almost dead at -80dB (or even lower if i move away from 5500mhz, it goes as low as -87dBm at 5800mhz). at the same time, also received signal to the metal went from original -65dBm to -80ish dBm. so in 3 months i lost about 30dB in TX and 15dB in RX.
this location with metal is already 7km away from my house and is not readily reachable, and the remote location is 6km away from it - but it takes me over 30min with the car to reach there because of no asphalted road and i have to bypass a canal, so it’s more like a 25km ride.
that said - is the metal dead? could it, perhaps, be a loose N connection? or something else? is it often a problem with metal?
