I have a link working at 75 KM LOS using Rocket M5 and a Dual Polarity Dish.
The Dish is 34 dBm and the signal is -73 with 40MHz channel width with two chains, it’s good, it achieves 60 Mbps in one direction, but when the weather goes bad it falls to -78, the CCQ drops and it has latency, the througtput goes to 20 Mbps.
I think to go to METAL 5SHPN, it has the double of rocket’s power, as i can’t go somewhere in the middle and make another point.
My question is:
Can i use 2 MT’s in the same Antenna?
Let’s say:
side A:
Switch and than:
MT at 5500MHz as access point (VERTICAL POL)
MT at 5800MHz as Station (HORIZONTAL POL)
Side B:
MT at 5500 as Station (VERTICAL POL)
MT at 5800 as Access Point (HORIZONTAL POL)
and than SWITCH.
Hi. Do not do it. You will have more noises and interference between two ports in waveguide..
Once i try to use the two XR5 cards on RB600 with two polar antennas,
but it not stable work when i enabling the second card, CCQ’s drops from 100% to 25% on 63km link
The best way for you is changing the antennas to 1.2m and try to use MK RB with R5nH
Thnx Samjan, but what if I put only vertical Polarization let’s say with 1300mW i’ll have at least -67 signal. How much traffic can MT pass with this signal level in one Polarization only at this distance with nvstremme or nv2 on? How much it will pass lets say in the worst weather condition with -75 dBm? What about latency and CCQ? Has anyone tried?
Mark that in 5900 MHz i have -93dbm noise floor!
I can’t say, may be. But i know, that every card on the peak level of TX power work poor, than lower TX. I always use the passive amplification via sizes of antennas, and keep the TX levels to 12-18dbm… The maximum rates on any links you can have only with lower power.
RB7115hnd is not good because of lower power than metal and rocket and more power lost on pigtails. I would buy 2xSXT 5Phnd with 32dbm and disconnect the antenna and put 2 pigtails. It would be higher power than Rocket and still have dual chain, and is cheaper.
I support laertbarka’s idea. Metal has better RF shielding than cheap plastic Groove. If the dual pol dish has N connectors, then coax cables or pigtails can be avoided. When one Metal fails, then the other will keep the connection alive. I don’t know how this would work in such distance, but it’s worth trying with at least one Metal on each side to begin with.
2 radios wont work on a mimo antenna. There will be interference. One mimo radio only. So one metal on each side would probably give a higher speed than rocket.
So your advice is that with 1.3 watt or a lil bit down to 1000 mw will with only one polarity will give more than rocket?
Rocket does not support ACK settings for 40MHz channels at this distance so it works with no ack mode, sometimes when weather chenges, this affects CCQ, i have the same signal but 50% ccq and a lot of time outs and high latency. Will this be solved at this distance? 75 KM?

If i put the 2 metals from one side and 2 from the others but the frequencies to be far away from each other. let’s say, one at 5100 and one at 5900 MHz. Can this work? It’s 800 MHz away, How can Interfere?

i use 34dbi dishes
RB435GL with 2 UBNT XR5 , with 200 MHZ frequency separation
they work fine except in a real storm , because my LOS is not perfect
but if you wanna Metal 5 , i think it’s better to use it on 5GHZ/A not N and reduce TX power , because more CPU load cause less distance accessibility , i think !
besides i using bondig with load balancing to share traffic between 2 links
