Metarouter Openwrt package issue

After successfully installing openwrt image (the one from mikrotik wiki) into metarouter, I noticed every command called from openwrt console is invalid.

I would like to install bmon package into openwrt or uhttpd but I always get “cannot install xx package”. Openwrt image is properly configured to access internet, could be a memory issue? Hardware is SXT lite5 64Mb Ram and metarouter got 24Mb.

opkg commands? Maybe. Every command? Not likely.

Please read the stickied “Metarouter images” thread at the top of the Virtualization forum. The image that MikroTik hosts on the Wiki is not supported by anyone and is proof-of-concept only. MikroTik did not build all of the additional/optional packages that were a part of OpenWRT buildroot, nor do they host a package repository for OpenWRT for MetaROUTER. If you need applications or packages that were not built into the sample MikroTik image itself, then you will either need to compile it yourself or find somebody that has compiled it and packaged it up for you.

Instead of using the MikroTik image, I recommend one of the images by liquidcz.

coffeecoco - can you write to us on how exactly you are crashing KVMs. We can check if we can do something about it or no. RouterOS as KVM guest has always been considered as stable.
