metarouter X86

any ideas when metarouter will work on x86 platform?

metarouter is for the MIPs platform I believe. x86 should use Xen, only if it were more stable : )

I havent had any luck..

Just cant find a “compatible” system yet…

if your router have CPU with virtualization support - try using KVM

edit: corrected typo

dont get this PCU KVM were are th options

Instructions on KVM on Mikrotik can be found here:
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Kvm

thanks for the link

cpu dont support it how do i know if its supported?

you can check here if your cpu supports or does not virtualization:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86_virtualization (that link is in KVM manual also on MT wiki)

also, check if you have enabled virtualization in PC’s BIOS. Some motherboards require newer BIOS version for that to work correctly.

Also, someone mentioned XEN - it was discontinued at version 4.4 and is not recommended for use and should be avoided.

KVM configuration can only be done through CLI and for that matter also API, but there are no such possibility from winbox and webfig at the moment.
