MIgrating from v5.24

Hello y’all

I have received an old Planet GSW-2416SF switch that is running RouterOS v5.24 that I need to upgrade to 6.37.5 as of a request from the owner.
As this is my first experience with RouterOS I am looking for some tips and tricks.

Already have I figured out the import/export (backup) configuration protocol in terminal, but I have also discovered some issues in migrating between different routerOS versions that have been discussed on this forum.

Can any of you shed some light on this process?

Thanks in advance for your reply

Are you sure that a planet switch is really running Ros?

Yep, I’m sure.

It is interesting. How did it happen?

As I said I received the switch from client, it has been in use since maybe 2012, deployment was done by one of his employee that doesn’t work there anymore.

My main issue with this I don’t wanna nerf the switch (and all of the services running on and by it) by simply flashing the firmware.
So mainly I am looking for some advice on this process.

Then rather keep it as it is.

I see two possible explanations:

a) The former employee was a wizard.
b) Someone is trying to troll us.
