Yesterday I was visiting my friend and he asked me to reconfigure his wireless network. I logged in to router via www and I saw MikroTik interface.
My question is how can it be? Can MikroTik software be installed on any router? I googled for router name + mikrotik 5.6 but didn’t find anything specific.
I assume software was put into router by corporation which provides him an internet acces and sold him a router, but was it a standard soft upgrade or some hardware upgrade too?
I’m curious because interface was lookign great and full of useful options and I wonder how to get it for myself.
I searched for tplink firmwares and it looks like they are .bin files - does MikroTik software come in same file, so it can be uploaded via standard firmware upgrade?
I found only .npk files (http://204.62.56.64/mikrotik/5.6/) what are they?
I would be thankful for any informations, cause my head is a mess right now, I have no clue how does it work, but I like it.
