Hi all, i have a network with RB2011,cisco poe switch, ip phone with dual ethernet interfaces and pcs connected to them.
I have linked the switch to ether5 and created two VLAN interfaces with id 11 and 12 and different subnets. I need data on vlan11 and voip on vlan12.
The problem is that from switch to station (pc + phone) there is only one poe ethernet cable that power-on the phone and then from the phone there’s a cable to the pc. How can i configure the switch? and the pcs?
You haven’t mentioned the switch or VOIP phone models or what their VLAN settings are.
The problem is that with only 1 cable from switch i have to tag vlan on phones, that is possible and on pcs, that is very difficult, only few nics support vlan id in driver option.
AGain, it depends on the actual equipment you are using. e.g. Some VOIP phone internal switches can tag the VOIP phone traffic distinctly from the PC traffic.
