Mikrotik AP soft Version

Hi,

I was wondering which software version is more stable for wireless AP (Mikrotik) inorder to have a good service for hotspot users.

2.9.38 currently is very stabile.

Thank you normis, what is the max users can the wlan handle and still giving the good service and solid ping for the hotspot user?

id depends how you define good. some say 20 - 40 users

I got an AP the users No. gets to 50, and I was testing I found 24 users on one of the wlans, I was one of those users (for testing), the ping test for the server it was rised up to 2000 ms or timing out, but i will try to upgrade the software version, will see if I get any progress.

It also depend on how users use the internet.
1 user can make ping 2000 ms if he use all the throughput

We have determined that on a Geode 266MHz platform as a Hotspot router, you can get about 80-90 active hotspot users before the CPU hits 100%. This assumes no P2P traffic, no more that 2MB of traffic, and at least 64MB of RAM. You should be able to get slightly more on a RB532. With higher bandwidth and heavy usage (ie, P2P) it’s probably closer to 50. On a wireless AP with Hotspot, you’ll probably max out at 40 or so users.
