Mikrotik as a media converter.

Hello, everyone.

I have a wireless router mAP2n. My aim is to turn it to a “dumb” wireless access point. That is, I have a separate routing/dhcp/dns server and I want my device to act as nothing more that a “media converter”. That is, I want my wifi clients to associate with microtic device (WPA-PSK), and than I want that their DHCP requests be satisfied by a separate DHCP server. That is, I want the microtic device to act as a “dumb” IP-less (level 2) gate between cable and wireless segments of the net.

How do I achieve this? Disabling DHCP and routing on the device - this isn’t enough, right? How do I tell the device to forward ethernet frames between LAN2 and WLAN?

Any ideas?

Bridge.

I’d reset the router to a blank config. Then bridge the ports adding wifi. add a ip address to it, password protect it, wifi security.

When you reset it to a blank config, you built the features from “nothing” until your happy.
