I have a configuration:
a)VPN Client (Win7/8) — Mikrotik NAT — Internet — Company Firewall/Microsoft RAS (VPN server)
b)Win7/8 Client — Mikrotik NAT (VPN client interface) — Internet — Company Firewall/Microsoft RAS (VPN server)
No matter what I do, either of these configuration is unstable. The connection drops after 5 minutes - 2 hours. I cannot make changes to the Company Firewall. BUT: If my colleges go home and the configuration is like a) but MT is replaced with a router that costs 15 bucks the connection is as stable as rock.
I have found two topics in two webpages dated 2007-2011 that described a setup like mine, and the same error…
What can I do? My colleges are VERY nervous because of that. I tried disabling encryption, lowering MTU/MRU - the result is the same.
Microsoft has done something extra in the PPTP that keeps disconnecting the tunnel??? If so, why does a cheap WiFi AP work?
