It could be alternative if it would be much cheaper. Do not think it is as manageable as mikrotik. With mikrotik you have more than 2 possible system versions - see partitions.
I am thinking of competition in wireless…
But you can not take part from one device and part from another and make your dreamAP. You have to compare both devices as whole.
I am using mikrotiks as routers…ubnt mainly as wireless…now I started to use mikrotiks as aps(on ptm), not in ptp because of high nv2 latency…
so I can you for wireless what I want and also for routing what I want…not like you say whole:)
