so, Linksys router looses its lease in 3 days, the lease time being set to 14 days?..
what’s on RouterOS? is that lease still in Leases? then it’s definitely Linksys problem - renewal should be on 8th day, not 2-3 days… try to set lease time to some small value (10 minutes) and see how they renew their addresses. anyway, 2 days for lease should be enough
Thanks for the message. Unfortunately with several thousand customers, I can not try it on the Mikrotik router. When I had the lease time around 7 days, it seems the customers were having to reboot every 1-2 days. Now, when I set the lease time to 14-days, I don’t have that many people complaining. Only some of the people are saying that they are having to reboot every 2-4 days now.
We have a wireless ISP network so maybe there is a keep alive packet or something that is not being sent if the wireless link goes down? So, if the Linksys router is not able to communicate with Mikrotik, then it lock up? Just a thought…
there’s no any special packets between receiving DHCP lease and renewing it. so, if lease time is 7 days and all devices are permanently online, then there should be 3.5 days of DHCP silence after obtaining an address
you may create one static DHCP lease for testing and set small Lease time of that lease to check whether it will help
