Mikrotik disconnects internet on a device on an hourly basis

Hi,
I have a Mikrotik SXT5HPnd r2 on the roof, which is connected to my ISP’s POP site via a point-to-point (PPPoE) connection. Inside the house, there is an access point acting as a wireless distributor for all the devices, and all the devices are connected to this access point. The access point is connected to the SXT via an Ethernet cable.

The issue I’m experiencing is that my internet disconnects on my PS5 on an hourly basis. For example, if I reboot my Mikrotik at 17:52:06, then every hour after that, my connection on the PS5 gets disconnected (e.g., 18:52:06, 19:52:06, and so on). Similarly, if I reboot my Mikrotik at 08:22:47, the connection drops on my PS5 every hour after that (e.g., 09:22:47, 10:22:47, etc.).
So this happening no matter what and only depends on the time that Mikrotik boots for the first time after a power outage. after that it will happen on an hourly basis.
It seems that the internet drops for a second, causing me to get kicked off online game servers (across different games). Immediately after the disconnection, the issue is resolves, and I can play online until the next hour. The PS5 is connected to Wi-Fi, and it appears that only the connection to internet is affected as the Wi-Fi connection to access point is not lost.

Things I have already checked:

  • I tried using another access point, but the issue persisted, so the problem does not seem to be related to the access point.
  • I connected my PS5 to a mobile hotspot and a TD-LTE modem (using a different internet connection), and the issue did not occur, indicating that the PS5 itself is working fine.
  • My connection to the POP site is completely stable, with over 20 days of uptime, so it is unlikely to be an issue with my ISP. Additionally, I ran a continuous ping from my laptop a few minutes before the expected drop time (e.g., if the connection drops at 18:47:58, I started pinging at 18:47:00), and there was no loss of ICMP packets at the drop time over my laptop.
  • I checked the DHCP lease time on my Mikrotik, and it is set to over one day. I also manually assigned a static IP to the PS5 by excluding one IP address from the DHCP server, but this did not solve the issue. I also set different private IPs to the PS5 but the issue still persists.
  • I reviewed the System → Scripts section on my Mikrotik, and there are no scripts listed.
  • I temporarily disabled all firewall rules on both my Mikrotik and the access point, but the issue remained.
  • There are no logs indicating any events at the specific times when the PS5’s internet connection drops.

It would be great if anyone can help me to fix this issue as its so much frustrating.

Thanks.

Extacly same problem here .
Did you find a solution?
Someone please help us.

Does any other defice have same problem?
You can start ping near the “drop time” on the another device and watch if the traffic stops or not.
If “the other” device has no problems then it points to PS5 as problematic one. If both devices would be dropped then it’s time to investigate router. Maybe ISP resets connection session and you observe results of that short disconnection.

One thing to check: DHCP lease time. It might be 3600 seconds and PS5 doesn’t like it. You may want to increase it to, say, 12 hours and see if it still happens … and if yes, with what period.

@mkx … already checked

Do you have a value set for group-key-update of the wireless security profile?

Ah, indeed. Lately I have problems with forum UI and long posts

Hi bro i did some changes i noticed improvment. Maybe works for you
If your mikrotik ipv6 is one and access point is off try to turn on it on both devices or disable on both devices.
Also go to IP>dhcp server>Leases>click on your access point rule> change server to all and save changes
Also go to IP>Firewall> Service Ports and that rules with 1:00:00 session try to disable it and let me if that worked.
Goodluck.

Please share your config (to end this guessing game):

/export file=anynameyoulike

Remove serial and any other private info.

Go to Interfaces and pppoe1-out click on it what is your keepalive timeout if it is 10 that means 10 second extend this number to 86400 and test again.
