Just curious if Mikrotik has any option like ubiquiti, to sign up for early access hardware or beta testing?
Yup … buy new model devices from your local MT distributor and you’re hooked up for beta testing. Or so it seems …
Straight up…
Absolutely correct!

I have not heard a way to get early HW unless being a million dollar client?
I would bring it down to a budget. It’s cheaper to let users test the devices probably
Sad but true.
Just one… correction…
I disagree. Most devices older than 2 or 3 years are quite stable. Perhaps the newest in the roster (those depending on v7) will take a while longer to stabilize due to ROS v7 own instability. Unless devices are actually flawed by design (one might say that about e.g. RB4011 WiFi version).
One device that got pretty stable a year or two after introduction is hAP ac2.
I dont think rawextended was making any comments about MT hardware (other than wifi) in the same way you guys were.
In the sense that the latest MT wifi products are ONLY useable with beta firwmare at the moment and/or mt home wifi products are behind any competitors models in wifi5 and do not have any wifi6 yet.
What Rextended clearly meant was that you can USE any MT router etc. and TRY the beta firmware that MT makes available. Get the difference.
Perhaps you need Mediterranean blood to see the light!! (as opposed to you land locked types)
@anav, so you became a mind reader after all, you know what @rextended had in mind when he wrote what he wrote. However, OP in his initial post expressly asked about “…for early access hardware or beta testing.” So I took the whole sentence to be about hardware as we all have opportunity to do alpha testing with ROS v7 and I (and possibly all others, but I can’t talk for them) wrote what I wrote with hardware in mind (I guess it’s obvious but then I’m not native speaker and neither is @rextended so we might have completely misunderstood each other).
No worries, I was half jesting as its not really a serious topic. You are right he was talking about beta hardware and rextended I think was noting that all hardware can use beta firmware, apples and oranges as you pointed!
Ok,
just a joke for be clear:
to sign up for
a) early access hardware
or
b) beta testing?
or is or
false or true = true
if can not “sign up for early access hardware” still can use beta software on any all actual routerboad, new and not new
(for sure not on abandoned mipsle architecture from ROS 5)
What my correction want mean is: you can run beta on any hardware (except mipsle, but are out of market and I dubt some reseller/distributor still have that)
It is works for many years. You can buy a router and report problems, mailing to support and after a few months or years the software is get stable on a hardware.
Just check the RB2004 topic. This is the biggest early access topic.
