Soon I will have internet speed up and I am looking for new router,
currently I have RB951G-2HnD but obviously it wont work fine with that much traffic.
So the WAN will be 900/100 Mbit using PPPoE and I want that divided thru mikrotik for few PCs and other devices via LAN and Wifi is not very important but 200-300 Mbit real speed thru Wifi would have been nice tho, just some basic firewall rules (maybe 20-30) without qos.
I was looking at different Routerboards and seems theres no all in one for home solution,
so I was thinking maybe use 2 Mikrotiks, one RB750Gr3 as main router and my current RB951G-2HnD as switch + wifi ?
Or combination of RB750Gr3 + RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT ?
Or a combination of RB3011UiAS-RM ( wish there was smaller non rack version of this one ) + some AP
And just now I have found out a RBD52G-5HacD2HnD-TC which according to test results just seems too perfect to be real for its tiny price, I mean the 4 core cpu + gbit switch + 2,4 GHz + 5 GHz + small case and its cheaper than RB951G-2HnD ?? No for real wheres the catch ?
Hi,
look here if you are searching an Home Model:
https://mikrotik.com/product/hap_ac2#fndtn-testresults
But Wireless on ARM platform no working fast:
http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/hap-ac-2-5-0ghz-issue/117509/1
But this will hopefully fixed with newer ROS versions.
If you are searching something for Business i would go with 3011 + WAP ac

Well the real question is will hAP AC 2 be able to handle 900/100 Mbit via PPPoE + NAT + around 30 firewall rules via LAN ?
That’s a relatively simple setup that an rb750gr3 could handle, so a hap ac2 will be more than enough. Since mikrotik makes really powerful hardware, it’s easy to think that anything on the lower end won’t be good enough. The high end gear is meant for a lot of clients and/or complex setups that utilize more advanced routing features, so unless you know you need it, there’s no point in overspending.
So I have bought hAP ac2 and its amazing, on same settings as my RB951G cpu usage is only 2-3% when fully using 100 Mbit PPPoE, while on RB951G cpu usage was ~20% ( with fastpath, without it was double that ).
Did you get 900/100 Mbit WAN connection speed with the hAP ac2, PPPoE and same IP firewall rules? If so, how did you test it?
Nope I dont have 900/100 yet I only tested at 100/50
