MikroTik HAP AC vs. CRS109-8G-1S-2HnD-IN for home Router / AP

Hi,

My ISP box is a poor quality modem-router. It needs frequent reboot and the local network isn’t stable et all.
Si I am looking for a new home router with good wifi capabilities.
I’m hesitating between 2 models :

  • HAP AC (with 5Ghz antenna)
  • CRS109-8G-1S-2HnD-IN (with external antenna and better packet [flash=][/flash]routing/switching performance).

Which one has the best wifi performance ? In particular in terms of range.
Which one would toi advise and why ?

Thanks in advance,
BDR.

CRS products are primarily switches, so don’t get one of these thinking that it’s going to be a high-performance router.

If you like the ports/features of a CRS, you might pair it up with a hEX router.

The hAP AC would be my choice of the things you listed.

Thanks for your quick and clear reply. In fact I don’t really need CRS ports or smart features.
A basic HEX with an eternal AP would permit a better wifi coverage (in case the external AP is at the same place that the HAP) ?

Thanks in advance,

The HAP AC is an excellent home AP, the alternative is HEX + a WAP AC as AP if you need to place the AP other place than router.
