If you didn’t read this topic - disable wpa3.
Why all the wpa3 hate?
I don't know, I have these problems only with hAP ax S which uses Mediatek…
It's not specific to Mikrotik either, I had tons of issues with it in Ubiquiti as well
Interesting. I never had a single issue with it. At least with mixed wpa2/wpa3 things run flawlessly here.
Its depends not on Mikrotik, but on clients.
It doesn't just depend on the clients.
With hAP ax 2 and various cAP ax, there are no problems with WPA3.
In my case, they started when we installed several hAP ax S that use a different wireless driver.
I tried but nothing, even just in WPA2 all iPads after a few minutes go to 20 Mbits.
It's amazing how unstable this Mediatek is...
do you also get 20 mbits throughput when actually loading the wifi connection?
As in: does a speedtest also only result with 20mbits or no?
As this could also just be power saving measures
Yes, about 20 Mbps download and around 30 Mbps upload on all four iPad Air devices.
On the MikroTik I can see they are connected at over 700 Mbps.
When they connect to the various cAP ax units, they reach always full speed.
It doesn’t help. I tried almost everything. It looks like some bug in Mediatek driver, on some moment it just stop passing data from radio.
The default configuration of the hAP ax S has FT over DS enabled.
I disabled it, so it uses FT over Air; all the iPads now work correctly and are stable.
I have FT over DS disabled, but it doesn’t help. Some of my devices (non-Apple laptops) still experiencing connection loss time-to time. I will replace hAP ax S by hAP ax^3.
My very old ipad air works with both FT turn on (FT over DS and FT over air) however that possible if
I turn off management protection.
The issue is not whether it works or not, but the reduced speed when using FT over DS.
To reproduce it with two hAP ax S devices:
- Configure CAPsMAN and cAP on both;
- Enable FT over DS;
- When iPads Air roam from the first to the second hAP ax S, the speed drops to 20 Mbps;
- Even when the iPads reconnect to the first hAP ax S, the speed remains limited.
Disabling FT over DS prevents this issue.
I have never had this problem with hAP ax 2/3, only with this model that uses MediaTek.
Yes. I’m facing similar issue for all devices during roaming.
I refer to a post here, set both arp-timeout.and ageing-time to 10s in bridge interface. This solve the issues.
Do note that, the internet intermittent happen with or without FS
Why nobody say anything about the new firmware? 7.22.2 fixed my issue with Intel AX201
Thank you Mikrotik ![]()
I'm since this weekend using hAP AX S as AP in my home office with 7.23rc.
Super stable, can't complain about that ! No disconnects at all when using Azure Remote Desktop (and that's known to be VERY sensitive for disconnects).
But speeds towards internal iperf server do not go much above 300-350Mbps.
Tested with 2 clients:
Laptop = Intel wifi6 AX201
Samsung S25
Same thing for me, I use it as a simple access point.
Using the SFP module, I can get up to 500 Mbps with 100% CPU usage (fully utilized by wireless).
These speeds are slow...
There's also the problem of low upload speed.
I hope MiKrotik does something about it.
Should I correct the "up to" translation? (from "roughly 1/2" to "little more than 1/3")?
