MikroTik Hotspot with UniFi UAP-AC-M and Starlink (best practice)

Hello,

I am building a local Wi-Fi hotspot business using MikroTik equipment and would like to confirm best practices.

Network overview

  • Internet source: Starlink

  • Router: MikroTik hEX (RouterOS v7.x)

  • Functions used:

    • NAT

    • DHCP

    • MikroTik Hotspot (captive portal, user profiles, bandwidth limits)

  • Access points: Ubiquiti UAP-AC-M (bridge mode, no routing)

Questions

  1. Is this architecture recommended and stable?
Starlink → MikroTik (Router + Hotspot) → UniFi APs (bridge mode)

  2. Are there any specific Hotspot settings recommended for Starlink connections (latency, FastTrack, firewall rules)?

  3. Is the MikroTik hEX suitable for handling 20–40 concurrent hotspot users with bandwidth limitation (PCQ / simple queues)?

  4. Are there common mistakes to avoid when combining MikroTik Hotspot + third-party APs (UniFi)?

  5. Do you have an official reference architecture for rural or community Wi-Fi hotspots powered by Starlink?

The goal is a simple, stable and commercially usable hotspot network.

Thank you for your guidance.

Just to add:

RouterOS v7.x on MikroTik hEX.

Hotspot enabled on bridge LAN, UniFi APs in bridge mode.

Any best practices or confirmation welcome.
