MikroTik huge speeds

So I don’t know if this is exactly allowed on these forums, but I feel like I just need to make this post, and that’s why I’ve registered.

But before we move on to why I’m posting let me put things in perspective: I’ve moved to a new house in the hills out in the middle of nowhere. I’ve thought I would be doomed to using dial-up. But than I found out about MikroTik (and p2p wifi). At first I thought it was going to be laggy, require maintenance and would drop connection constantly, but what the heck right? Still beats 56kbps, so I gave it a try. I found a person willing to lend me their attic in a house in a town about 2km away to which I had a clear air line.

I set up the ISP modem there. The setup of mikrotik was a bit hard, since I’ve no expert knowledge of wifi networking, but I’ve followed some nice click-by-click manuals and I got it to work at home. I set up one wifi router on my house, plugged a cisco router in than I had to drive one router to the town, plug it into the modem and turn them on. I didn’t really except it to work, but there it was, clear as day, internet. It friggin worked. So easely.

Well that was 6 months ago, and since that day I have never ever had a single problem with the connection. It never dropped. EVER! During thunderstorms, during heat, during direct sunlight, during freezing cold. Hell the antenna was covered in ice, and internet worked impecably. I was quite simply amazed. Games, skype TV, youtube… You name it, it all works spotlessly.

But what I saw today made me post here. MikroTik actually managed to send 10MB/s (megabytes). Over 2400meters! :open_mouth: Not to mention that this was the fastest home internet I’ve ever had, it all still worked perfectly. I could even have a bloody skype conversation without a problem. And all that while sending 660kb/s the other way.
Shock.

So this post is basically praise for MikroTik. You guys are gods!

Here some pics.
Firstly, this is what the distance looks like from the air. My house is on a hill, so there is a clear line of sight.
