can it work on windows mobile phones?
I am sorry but this will only be for iPhones.
All the interfaces (that I am going to do for the first release) are done. They aren’t all tested but I’m fairly sure they are ok. I have finished implementing VirtualAp detection vs WLAN as well as support for Prism VS Atheros cards for Wireless. I think it’s pretty badass. I will be doing that beta testing very very soon after I get some stuff cleaned up and organized for a closed release.
I am thinking I will be ready to beta test by tonight. I currently have 4 people interested but I would like at least 10 people for the beta test. If you are interested please contact me. Information is in the first post. You do not need an unlocked phone to participate and it should work fine on an iTouch as well as long as you are connected to a wifi network.
I received an email from jsmith and I was unable to reply to him because the email was not valid. If you sent me an email with this address please contact me back with an email that works with your device identifier. Thanks.
How do you manage those 100 devices?
All I could find in the wiki with regards to this was the “Configuration Management” topic, which dealt with importing/exporting the configuration. This is tedious enough for one device, but I cannot imagine doing that for 100 - at least not manually.
(Slightly OT)
I manage the same about of devices over a PHP+API tool I have written.
I basically only have to enter the wireless MAC-ID and it will create the necessary configuration for me, which I then can import (this takes about 1.5m per device)
After that I can control all devices via my tool
I suspect many here have done the same, some users have over 1000 RBs.
Exactly what dog said really.
If you want to manage them then well individually is how it is going to happen since you are one guy.
If you simple want to configure all of them then creating a script using the API would be your best bet. Make it so you give it all the IP addresses for the devices and then it configures them. Hell you can export that config file you were talking about and use the API to auto import it to all the devices. that is if the API allows import. I haven’t tried it.
Ah, I can follow. The wiki page on Configuration Management didn’t mention a scenario such as this, but the approach makes sense.
Fully automated configuration management is why I initially posted this feature request. I just wanted to boot a vanilla Debian install so badly so I can just run cfengine on it, which in turn would install & configure all services I expected on the gateway for me (as it’s done for ~30 hosts I administer currently).
I’ll look into the scripting solution. Thanks for the info!
Let me know if you require any more testers. exciting project.
EDIT : I work at an ISP. We have a number of RB devices that we are testing in different configs.
hotspot access controller, MLppp modem bonding, VPN
Any idea when you will release the first beta???
i am waiting…

I would like to get the beta also.
Thanks!
I went to your site and emailed the UDID.
I have enough and will release it soon. I have several people though who have not givin’ me their identifiers. Directions are in the first post. I need this so that I can compile the app with your iphone or itouch. You must also have OS version 3.0 or greater.
I will be compiling this today with the UDIDs I have and sending out instructions with a link to the App to those who want to participate.
Hamil:
I need your UDID. Please be sure you have an iphone or itouch with OS 3.0 or greater.
To do this, connect your device to your computer and launch iTunes. In iTunes, select your device in the ‘Devices’ section and navigate to the Summary tab. Click on the Serial Number label to reveal the Identifier field and the 40 character UDID. Copy the UDID to your clipboard.
Have you decided on a price point yet for when you release this to the app store?
I have a little. I was thinking making it somewhere around $6.99 USD or $5.99 for original release and then moving it to $9.99 when you can modify settings. What do you guys think?
Sounds reasonable to me.
I have sent out the beta to those who have contacted me with a UDID.
My first feedback has been sent to you via e-mail…

The new web winbox by mikrotik presented at the last mum, makes obsolete this kind of applications ?
I haven’t seen the new web winbox but at our company we wont let anyone use the web winbox because it breaks our routers somehow by resetting a ton of settings and what not. I don’t know much about it though.
