Mikrotik presence on western Europe ?

Hello,

I would like to know why is the presence of the Mikrotik community in western Europe so low ?
For example, I’ve never seen any MUM in France or Spain.
This is strange, as I know, Mikrotik is quite widely used in Spain, for example on the Guifi.net in Barcelona.

Is there any plan to make a MUM or any kind of presence here ?

Maybe it is cheaper for people to attend where the MUMs are being held?

And better connectivity to both the “Wizz Air side” and the “easyJet side”?

A good option for a West European MUM would be an Atlantic MUM in Iceland. Then you could have the USA MUM in Texas.

WOW air’s fleet could be expanding from 5 to 30 planes over the next 5 years.

A little digression, related to what I mentioned above:

Some obvious observations if a person is not looking for the cheapest flight:

  • They will accept a connection for the chance of flying the A380, otherwise, they want to fly direct.
  • If they can’t fly direct, they want to avoid backtracking as much as possible, except for the A380 if it’s not too much, or doing a layover for fun.
  • They will select the shortest total time, but with low risk of missing a connection, if it does not cost much more.
  • They avoid connecting at airports overcrowded with planes or people.
  • There might be too few international Premium Economy seats, and lack of this class would be a reason to avoid an airline right from the search engine.
  • They don’t like noisy planes (including when parked).
  • If there has been a history of strikes lately, they will try to find an alternative
  • The website may lose you a sale, even if the above.
  • They hate overly narrow aisles

For more advanced fliers:

  • If flying economy, they prefer A340 2-4-2 to B777 3-4-3 (but what they really want is 2-3-2).
  • They prefer a plane with 2-2 to another with 3-3 (except if it’s noisy).
  • In Premium Economy, they want the good seats, like those of Air France
  • In Business, they prefer 2-2-2 to 2-3-2
  • They check seatguru (including pitch, of course)
  • In the A380, they want the top floor
  • No fan of low flight ceiling planes

Enthusiasts will object to some of the rules above.

When i asked that question to a product manager in MUM Venice '14, answer was .. “western Europe is too far from the center of Europe, people would have to drive a too long way”. No joke!

It would be better use high speed rail than driving all the way.
