anyone know the reasons for the shortages in particular Mikrotik products ??
CRS328-24P-4S+RM - Been out of stock all across Europe for months now (almost 6) each update from certain website about availability keep getting pushed back
RB4011IGS+5HACQ2HND-IN - Just looked for one of these for a customer, same story …
Former EuroDK is selling the RB4011IGS+5HACQ2HND-IN US version on ebay uk, used, US versions, is that allowed ??
Nothing on the RB4011 side, the wifi part would be limited… locked to US settings?
Finally, one would have to be cognizant of power differences (voltages) if any and of course correct plugs etc…
The reasons are probably the same that you have with all vendors.
We are not really happy if Cisco tells use we have 380 days of lead time for eg. Wireless AP’s 9100-series etc.
Certain Catalyst LAN-switches is also quite problematic etc.
I don’t think Mikrotik can really make any specific comments on this. They don’t know much more than we do, and even if they did, they can’t pass on information that may be seen as favouring one distributor over another. I have emailed, and am simply advised to contact ‘my’ distributor. I’m surre you can imagine that Mikrotik informing “we just posted 100x CCR2004 to Distributor A” would not seem fair to ‘Distributor B’…
As for the background, there is plenty to read about it - the situation even has it’s own Wikipedia page : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020–present_global_chip_shortage which does a great job of summarizing the ‘perfect storm’ of varying factors leading to the current crisis.
Lets start with the suez canal getting blocked for months, set the world back years.
Then covid hit, which affected all major ports and producers, set the world back probably a decade before its all sorted…
(didnt even mention a war going on)
Sorry you dont get instant gratification here, now go suck on a lollypop and learn patience like the rest of the children.
Seeing the lead time across variastore.com that was constantly changing and seeing other website saying “coming soon” to “not available” I thought I would come to the Mikrotik forum to ask if any other information could be garnered.
As for the original poster, welcome to the current state of the world. So many products are very hard to obtain. In most cases, the manufacturers have little or no control over it - they simply can’t get the parts…
Not just parts!!!
It is not without coincidence that Apple is now counting on ramping up production of Iphones in India, where there is no Govt covid lock downs (china) which effectively stop production!!
Hi elbob, thats an IRS issue, they are clearly blocking/delaying CISCO products from going to Ireland due to the tax evasion offered to US companies by the Irish govt. ;-PP
