MikroTik R11e modem- working, but not available as an interface option

I have an RB912 routerboard with a Mikrotik R11e LTE modem, which once configured will register on mobile network. Winbox interfaces view shows the ‘lte1’ device (as does /interfaces print), however ‘lte1’ does not appear as an option for any connection interface (e.g. DHCP Client, bridge, etc…).

Have tried v6.39.3 and 6.40.6, with same result. Am I missing something obvious?

IP address is added automatically and DHCP configuration is moved to - /interface lte apn

I see the /interface lte apn settings, but am not clear as to why the lte interface doesn’t appear alongside the other interfaces (ether1, wlan1 etc) when assigning interface to block (e.g. bridge, DHCP client, etc)
