Mikrotik RB951Ui-2nD and USB Hub

Hello guys,

I have a Mikrotik RB951Ui-2nD(hAP), running Routeros 6.46.4. As you know, it has one USB port.

Question: Can I connect two devices to it using an USB Hub and what type of port is it (2.0 or 3.0)?

I want to connect an external HDD/SSD drive to use as FTP server/some network share and a 4G LTE dongle from Huawei for an extra internet connection.

I sincerely apologize if this question doesn’t belong here or was posted recently. I only found one thread from 2010 which stated that the storage plan wasn’t possible, but I thought that 10 years later things can be different. Thanks in advance for any help.

You will need a powered usb hub. You can setup a windows share for the hdd no ftp. It’s usb 2 so you will be bandwidth limited to that. It will do it, but don’t expect it to be fast.

I see, it has also 64 MB RAM, so I guess I may overload it?

Maybe the more beautiful option would be to put a switch behind it and connect a Raspberry PI to my switch, while attaching the HDD to it. Then the Mikrotik would only take the dongle.

Ataching a R-PI to the network would be my suggested solution. More flexible and higher performing too.
