MikroTik reboots with self signed certificate

MikroTik reboots with self signed certificate.
I have created self signed certificate chain.

  • Added root+intermediate certs to the router.
  • Added certificate + key for the web server (mikrotik) to the routers config
  • enabled www-ssl, disabled traffic on port 80

Whenever I am accessing (over wifi) mikrotik’s web panel, either via IP or hostname using https, it reboots randomly:

  • sometimes straight away after entering credentials
  • sometimes after checking/verifying some settings

Added some logging, to figure out what is the issue.

  • noticed that the ntp time sync gets messed up, and tries to fix the datetime from few minutes up to the beginning of unix epoch.
  • tried disabling ntp sync, though the problem still occurs

Can anybody help me to fix this issue?

It is unclear from your post whether HTTPS is the only management access to the router you currently have or whether at least one of (Winbox via IP address, Winbox via MAC address, mac-telnet, SSH) is still available, i.e. whether you need to regain access to the router or just make it work also via HTTPS.

It is probably not important how I am managing it.
The router has 22 and 443 ports open from internal subnets and nothing from outside. All unneeded services are disabled.
I am using Linux, so no Winbox is enabled.

It usually reboots when there is a lot of video conferencing, screen sharing going on.
Started thinking that somebody online found some exploits and tries to break in, but hopefully it is not that.

I.e. today it rebooted twice within 5-10minutes, then it was fine for a few hours, until it rebooted again. All of those times I was using video conferencing via Google meet, Teams or slack.
It was ok since I posted the first message.

Any thoughts?
