Mikrotik Regional Root Bridge issue

Hello,

Whenever the are a lot of port flaps on a regional root bridge there is a interrupt in forwarding on that regional root, this temporarely disconnects my CAPs that are connected to that bridge. The flapping ports are edge ports.

As a workaround, disable MSTP and go back to RSTP, so the root bridge is another bridge that does not experience port flaps, or keep MSTP and “move” the regional root brige to another bridge that doesn’t experience rapid port flaps.

The issue only manifests where cAPs are connected to the regional root and they also have MSTP configured, the cAPs are not experiencing rapid port flaps.

Rapid port flaps seem to be caused by bad cables and/or improper contact on the wall Ethernet ports and replacing the bad connections fixes the port flaps and the regional root bridge issue.

Has anyone experienced this?

Hardware involved:
SWITCH: CRS354-48G-4S+2Q+ with RouterOS 6.49.18 with bridge hardware offload and MSTP.
CAPs: cAP AC as CapsMan client with the default bridge and MSTP configured.
Each floor has it’s own MSTP region with a default MSTI with VLAN mapping 1-4094.

Thank you.
