Mikrotik Router board Two WAN was a Backup and other as Main

Dear All,

I need your advise for the best result and easy way, in Routerboard RB1100AHx2.

I have got connection from Providers, one as Main which always must be active and run, and if incase the Main link is down the traffic must shift to Backup link, What I want at same time both connections should not work.

1- connection one Main ( 5 Mbps ) Public IP 103.xx.xx.xx/30 ( Fiber) RB1100 Port 2
2- Connection two Backup ( 512 Kbps) Public IP 82.xx.xx.xx/30 ( VSAT ) RB1100 Port 5

during the outage in Main link I am authorize to backup connection.

like something Ping system, if the ping went down in the main the system should understand in 2 minutes, not before nor later than 2 min, change the circuit to Backup, and whenever the Main connection backup online automatically the system change to Main connection and backup connection stays as backup.

Do you have any routing protocols running, or is it just static routing?

What sort of failure are you expecting? The most basic failures should be covered by just having multiple static default routes with different metrics. But if you expect problems beyond the link connecting to your router, you’ll probably need something more.

Outage beyond the link can be captured by static routing of testing address and simple netwatch moving the default route metric.
