I was speaking to a guy at a MikroTik seller who told me I should post a question here about which router to use.
I am setting up a VOIP system in my office running over a Time Warner business cable modem. The down is 8 and the up is 1. It was suggested to me that I get what I am going to call a ‘prioritizing router’ so that I may set the bandwidth to prioritize phones over the data stream. The office will have 8 to 10 phone lines. There will be 3 computers accessing the data stream. There is potential to add a couple more phone lines and computers, but not more than a few. We do not work with media so there are no intensive data downloads, just web, email, file transfers, etc.
I am told the RB750G, RB800 or RB1100 are fine choices but was directed to ask for input here.
