Mikrotik Router Os reset itself

I have recently configured my Mikrotik RouterOs as an Internet Server and its working but it resets itself sometimes and all configuration made on is wiped off. How do i keep this configuration on the system and make it never leave even on restart of the the Server.

what kind of hardware is it on?

its a P4 Intel System with 1G RAM, 40 Gig HDD, RealTek RTL8101 Network card for the Public and DLink Network card for the Internal,
IP addresses are. 192.168.1.1/24 (Public) and 192.168.0.1/24 (internal)

what RouterOS version do you use?

set the logging to save to disk (so that it’s kept after reboot) and check what is in your logs after this configuration erase

mikrotik-2.9.27
Winbox v2.2.11
I am configuring the Router via the Winbox.License 6. Its saying its upgradeable till Jan 2008! am new with the OS, So how do i set the log status and anyother thing.

if you use Netinstall, you can upgrade to v3.19 and Winbox to 2.2.14

I’m sure there was some glitch in the old software that you have

I have another sys with same configuration as above but this time i want to connect it between a Null Modem (linkstar Modem) and the internal Network. After putting the necessary IPs on the Router Box, I connected using a Cross cable to the Router Box from the modem, it didnt work. I tried with a straight cable too and its same result. I can connect to the Router Os box using a laptop with both Cross and Straight but its not working when am deploying it to where its needed. What didn’t i do or did wrong. Please i need your Help…

What is the connection type of the modem? Is it RS232 or Ethernet ? Can you plug the modem directly to a laptop and does the laptop have access to the Internet over that modem? What are the addresses on the laptop?
