I recently purchased a hAP AC lite that I am using for my in house AP. I also currently have a SXTG 2HnD that I am going to be replacing with a LHG-2nD-XLI. I do not expect having any problems configuring the new bridge, my problem is instead with the hAP. Port 5 has the capability of being a POE out, yet the internet in is port 1. Is it possible to change that around so I can power the Bridge from the hAP using Port 5 but still have the internet? I took a shot at configuring it this after noon, and all I can say is I am glad I made a backup of my configuration file, because I had it so messed up it was doing nothing. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. I prefer going thru Winbox, but I can use the CLI if needed. Any help would be appreciated.
First of all, upgrade to 6.41 or later. The bridge configuration changed, and it will be easier for you to start the setup the new way.
Now, that you have upgraded it, let’s start.
- Connect on the router, through ports 2, 3 or 4.
- Disconnect the router from the Internet
- Go to the bridge menu. You should have only one bridge.
- Go to ports
- Remove port 5 from the bridge
- Insert port 1 on the bridge
- Check your firewall rules. Now, port 1 is an intranet one, and port 5 an external one.
Check the interface list. Remove ether1 from WAN, and insert it in LAN - Still on the interface list, remove ether5 from LAN, and insert it in WAN
Done.
Thank you sir. I had done what I thought was the same thing, but it was probably the last two steps that hosed me. But there is one step you did forget. Address list, change the adress for the bridge to port 5.
This lets me get rid of some of the extra power cord I had to run because I had run out of outlets. Thanks again.
