i have mikrotik router iam wondering if there is script can make it working daily from 7 AM till 7 PM stop working
and next morning booting on automatically same hours daily ,
To save Power ? or to block Traffic?
yes to save power
I don’t think it is possible to do this via RouterOS…
There a some Solutions out there…
- Plug with Timer
- Smart Plug (IoT)
- Industrial Rackmount Power-Managers
- Some UPS with smart funktions
- etc…
Above solutions came to mind as well.
Don’t forget to gracefully shut down your device before the juice is being cut rather abruptly !

Cost of get some extra equipment to power off/on you device may cost more than you ever will save on energy saved by turning off the router ![]()
Example an RB750Gr3 uses max 10w. Compare to a Cisco device, this is close to nothing.
Just an other idea:
A lot of POS-Systems (Point of Sale) use the internal Power-Supply of the Computer
to power external devices. For exemple: cash drawer, payment terminal, Secondary Screens, etc…
If you have a Windows-Computer , you could use something like this (https://www.ebay.de/itm/201672079821)
to power a 12V compatible Mikrotik device.
Exemple of your daily routine:
When you startup the “main” Computer in the Morning, it will power the Mikrotik Router.
And in the evening, you simply have to shutdown your computer via a “shortcut” on your desktop.
The shortcut will safely shutdown the Mikrotik-Device and follwed by the Computer.
Advantage:
- Always works! Even on holidays, weekends, etc..
- No additional Hardware required with Standby-Power or additional Power draw.
Disadvantage:
- Windows-Update may improperly shutdown your Mikrotik-Device
- If you need to reboot your PC during the day, all other devices will be offline for a couple of minutes.
