Has anyone tried to install RouterOS on ASG 220 hardware? How would you recommend to run the installation? There are two serial ports but for the lack of motherboard configuration I have absolutely no idea whether the hardware is actually compatible with RouterOS.
Im happy to experiment though
Just give it a try, do a netinstall. I think, it should work, because it looks like a “run-of-the-mill” x86-system. Unless, they did some special mods to BIOS etc., because of the security. I run RoS on simple old P2/P3 systems in the lab.
But, this ASG is a rather expensive piece of HW, however
Thanks both,
I do already have spare ASG 220 and I am seriously not willing to pay ÂŁ2000 for licence for another year especially when I was able to replicate all functionality with OSS software for about the same price for development.
I will give a netinstall a try. The issue is that ASG does not have any visible VGA pinouts and I have no idea whether it will boot from LAN - well, I’ll give it a try and report back.
The hardware is a nice piece of kit though. It looks extremely solid, almost industrial-grade.
