MUM 2019 Product updates presentation - Hungarian subtititle
This is the Product updates presentation of Normunds Rustanovics from the 2019 MUM in Vienna.
The Lora iOt sounds really useful, but is it only 2.4ghz?
I would think you want even lower frequencies, typically we are talking 100mhz to 5.8ghz.
Is there a frequency range or options available?
No, 2GHz is for the WiFi AP. Lora uses different frequencies. Here is some more info:
wAPR-2nD&R11e-LoRa8 - LoRa gateway for ISM 863-870MHz bands with full RouterOS support. wAP product with LoRa gateway. Integrated 3dBi antenna for LoRa and 2dBi for 2.4GHz WiFi AP. Higher gain external antenna could be connected through SMA pigtail (should be purchased separately). 8 uplink channels. Supported regions EU863-870, IN865-867, RU864-870, KZ865-868, custom channel selection. UDP packet forwarder to any public (TheThingsNetwork, Loriot.io, etc.) or private network server. Very affordable pricing.
R11e-LoRa8 - LoRa mPCIe Gateway module. Can be integrated in any RouterBOARD product with mPCIe slot that has USB support. For example LTAP mini, M11, M33 and others. Requires LoRa package installation.
Good to see the miniPCI LORA card to be offered standalone, hopefully it will not be priced with premium compared to wAP with lora built in.
There is already RAK833 LORAWAN miniPCI card on the market, with price around $100, hoping Mikrotik version will be competitive…
Hi Normis do you have any literature you can fire my way? I have a friend who is developing iot products and he actually designs his own boards etc…
It may be useful for him to just use available products if they fit the bill!!
Might be good to see a unit come out with GPS built in as well, plus maybe an extra mPCIe slot which could support LTE or additional WiFi (e.g. 5GHz)
That would be very useful for shorter term/ad hoc deployments and other scenarios.
The GPS would ensure the IOT network would always know the correct current location of the gateway, plus it would provide precise timing for Class B operation
