Anyones knows if Alvarion’s BreezeNET VL can manage more subscribers per sector than Mikrotik?
Working in 5.4-5.7Ghz.
Alvarion bs works with alvarion cpe. Anyway it is a limitation from the standard. If you want to manage more users, use pppoe (important for viruses), give priorities, make sure all the subscribers have at least 18dB SNR, CCQ>60%, use a powerfull board, recommended x86, P3@1000mhz intel.
In the US, you would not be able to use 5.4-5-7 with MT, but the technologies apply to any frequency VL and MT work in.
The VL gear has some nstreme like capabilities (packet combining options, etc..). I have no idea how many customers you can have on a MT sector with nstreme. You would need nstreme enabled in a fair comparison to get the packet and performance gained by combining packets, otherwise a low modulation user with many small packets (p2p, voip) would slow down the whole sector rather easily.
The VL gear also has automatic transmit power control, something not in normal MT gear. This lowers the noise floor in the general area, permitting better frequency use and reducing adjacent interference.
