We have been using Mikrotik for many years now as a core router and have been happy with it, but sometimes it chokes on DDOS attacks above 100,000 pps on a dual xeon. Has anyone compared Mikrotik to Vyatta when it comes to performance only (I understand the differences in the features and usability)?
I don’t have a good benchmark test, but just sending a lot of packets through a Mikrotik puts the load around 25%, but sending the same packets through a Vyatta router (same hardware) puts almost no load at all on it.
For the system configuration, both systems are the same… Dell SC1425’s (dual xeons)
For the software configuration. Both are really the same also when I tested them. I removed all the queues in Mikrotik since those can be a resource hog.
Has anyone did any comparisons on routing performance between the Mikrotik and Vyatta?
This thread is dead? The Mikrotik does not support over 100.000 pps? I’ll try to use the Mikrotik in a border gateway for 1.5 Gbps with over 1.200.000 pps. Have you ever seen a scenario like using Mikrotik?
